Mitchell Powersystems specialise in the comprehensive supply and service support of diesel engines and transmissions. The company operates from a head office in Sutton in Ashfield, with a network of seven regional branches, each of which offer full parts-sales and service support services.

With a view to further improving customer service levels and maximising the efficiency of their £7M stock holding Mitchell Powersystems recently undertook a comprehensive review of their parts stock and distribution model.

The resulting new warehouse facility at Sutton in Ashfield includes 8 runs of pallet racking 5 metres high accommodating the new engine & transmission stock and larger part items. However, some 90% of the parts stock is housed in a new computerised vertical storage carousel. The carousel has its own warehouse management system that has been fully integrated with the company parts business software and occupies a floor space of just 16 square metres with a storage capacity of 188 linear metres.

Currently the new facility houses over 8,000 SKU's (part numbers) and over the next 12 months will see this increase to over 15,000 SKU's.
